The class being offered is Lifeguard Training. It is the new course, just released in February 2024. It is a basic pool lifeguard certification class - it
does include the necessary CPR and first aid skills for employment.
If you are interested in working at a beach you may need to either take a Waterfront Lifeguarding course instead, or add the Waterfront module to your base
certification upon base level completion.
You must be 15 by the course completion date, and you can work as a 15yr, although some facilities may require you to be older.
The course requires that you are a competent swimmer. If you swim for HS or a club team you undoubtedly have the basic swimming skills to start the course. If you are not
affiliated with a competitive team, please email me to discuss the basic requirements. It doesn't mean the water skills aren't well within your abilities, but we need to confirm
before beginning.
Class on Thursday's is all book, video and practical work. We are not in the water on Thursdays.
The class is $300 for certification. You do not pay until you have successfully completed the course. If you change your mind or don't pass the class, there is no fee.
If you are still interested, and the schedule works for you, please email me back and I will send you the next steps.
We will meet in the Training Room, which is located next to the Park and Recreation office, off the pool lobby at High Plains Comm. Center. I do need a firm count to ensure
we have the right size room, so please let me know if you plan on attending.
If this class is during your dinner time, you may bring food to eat during class. Please don't bring anything with nuts until we confirm there are no allergies in the class.
Any other questions, please let me know. Please register on RecDesk. You must have a household account to register.
