The Connecticut Municipal Agent program is a state-mandated program. Municipal agents act as a central point of contact for seniors to provide assistance with accessing programs such as Medicare, Social Security, food stamps, housing, fuel assistance, and legal referrals. The program also aids and support to families and individuals concerned about an elderly resident's welfare. The Orange Outreach worker/Municipal Agent is available for in-office appointments, home visits, as well as family conferences.
The Municipal Agent/Outerach Worker also oversees the Community Assistance Fund including the Food Pantry, Fuel Bank and Holiday Program. Orange residents qualify for assistance based on household size and income. Assistance is dependent on funding availability.
The Community Services office is an intake site for the Senior Farmer Market Nutition Program, June - September. This program provides vouchers to qualifying seniors for use at the Farmer's Markets.
