The Investigative Services Unit is a support function to the
patrol division. This Unit handles the major or lengthy investigations.
These officers are assigned so that the patrol officers can be
available to handle emergency calls for service. The Investigative
Services Unit is commanded by Lt Anthony Cuozzo. There are up to six
officers assigned to this division: four general investigators, one
officer assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force and the
Department's D.A.R.E./Youth/Crime Prevention Officer.
Officers assigned to this division are trained in crime
scene processing, video and photographic techniques,
evidence collection, interview and interrogation skills, as
well as numerous other related specialties. The
Investigative Services Unit is also responsible for
processing our arrest photographs. Our photo system is completely
digital, the images or photographs can be
reproduced as needed without having to go into the darkroom.
The officers assigned to the Investigative Services
Unit have successfully handled almost every type of
crime imaginable including homicides, embezzlements,
burglaries and sexual assaults. These officers maintain
contacts with all other law enforcement agencies such as the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement
Administration , the Secret Service, the Connecticut State
Police, and task force groups dealing with drugs and stolen

area departments to exchange information in order to
