Trip to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and South Street Seaport – July 26.  Travel by motor coach to the NYC and take the Circle Line Ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with a tour guide.  After a few hours, we return by Ferry and stop at the South Street Seaport for shopping and dinner on your own.  Cost: $59. Payment was due June 26.  Waiting list. 

 

Ferry Trip to Block Island – August 16.  Travel by deluxe motor coach to Point Judith where we board a ferry to Block Island.  Once there, we take a guided tour of the island and then have lunch on the porch of the National Hotel.  After time for browsing and shopping, we will head back on the ferry to catch our motor coach to return home. Cost: $101 pp. includes motor coach, ferry, guided tour, lunch and gratuities. Payment due by July 26. Waiting list.

 

Trip to Foxwoods – September 6

Join us for a trip to Foxwoods on Wednesday, September 6. Bus leaves at 8 am and returns about 5:30. Cost: $20 includes transportation, bonus package, and driver’s gratuity. Sign up as soon as possible. Payment due at sign-up. Deadline: August 25.

Sergio Franchi Concert in Stonington, CT – September 9

We had such a nice day last year that we are planning this trip again.  Hosted by the late Sergio Franchi’s gracious wife, Eva, the concert features many up-coming tenors and sopranos accompanied by a 32-piece orchestra on the lawn of the estate. Before the concert starts, you will be able to tour the estate and see Sergio’s rare antique car collection.  Food and beverages are available for purchase, bring your own picnic basket and beverage, or order a box lunch for an additional cost from Timothy’s.  Concert tickets have gone up this year to $50.  Total cost for transportation (on a yellow Winkle school-bus!), admission to the concert, and driver’s gratuity is $63.  Reservations with payment are needed as soon as possible, but no later than August 15.

 

Aqua Turf  Tribute to the Rat Pack – Sept. 12. Enjoy a wonderful lunch of minestrone soup, penne pasta ala Vodka, sliced roast beef, mashed potatoes, tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette, chicken ala Kathryn, julienne vegetables and dessert at the beautiful Aqua Turf Club.  After lunch be entertained by the “Rat Pack”.  Includes transportation by Black Swan Coach & Limousine.  Cost: $47.00 includes lunch, entertainment, transportation and gratuity.  Limited to 32 persons.  Payment due by August 1. Canyonlands – September 13 – 19, 2006.  Discover the spectacular scenery of America’s incredible Canyonlands, featuring three National Parks (Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon National Park). Also see Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, and Hoover Dam. Fly to Las Vegas and make a short transfer to Mesquite, Nevada for a 6-night stay at the impressive Casa Blanca Resort Casino offering a world-class spa, 24-hour casino, waterfall lagoon and 18-hole championship golf course.  A one-day optional trip to Las Vegas is included at no extra cost.    This escorted trip includes transportation from the senior center to Bradley or Providence Airport, airfare to Las Vegas, day trips to the national parks mentioned, accommodations at the Casa Blanca Resort Casino, baggage handling, and ten meals. This 3-day, 2-night trip combines the beauty of Niagara Falls, thrilling 24-hour casino action and the excitement of a Red Sox game in one tour.  Includes roundtrip motor coach transportation, 2 nights at the beautiful Hilton Fallsview Hotel (adjacent to the casino), 2 buffet breakfasts overlooking the Falls, food voucher for any restaurant inside Fallsview Casino, Casino Coin Bonus, tour of Niagara Falls, reserved seats for the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays Game, duty free shopping, all taxes, baggage handling and driver’s gratuity.  Cost: $304 pp double, $284 pp triple, $404 single.  $75 pp deposit due July 1.  Final payment due August 15. Fall Foliage Trip to Litchfield Hills – October 17

Enjoy a 17-mile train ride through the Naugatuck Valley of Connecticut, gliding by small towns, Victorian Homes, depots, woodlands and across the magnificent Thomaston Dam.  Enjoy the fall colors and then have lunch at the Venetian Restaurant. On our way back home, we stop for a tour and wine tasting at the Haight Vineyard.  Cost: $65 pp includes transportation, train ride, luncheon, tour and tasting at Vineyard, and gratuity.  Payment due by Sept. 26.

 

Las Vegas - October 23 – 27, 2006.

Fly to Las Vegas from Bradley or Providence Airport on Monday via Southwest Airlines to stay four nights at the Flamingo Las Vegas on The Strip.  The Flamingo is a complete resort ideally located across from Caesars’ Mirage and Bellagio and near Bally’s and Paris.  Tour includes round trip transfers to the airport, roundtrip airfare to Las Vegas, greeter and round trip transfer from the Las Vegas Airport to the Flamingo Hotel, 4 nights accommodations, 2 shows, day trips to Laughlin and Stateline w/ lunch, discount “fun” book, trip cancellation insurance, baggage handling (1 bag/person), and all taxes and gratuities.  Cost: $669 pp, double and triple occupancy; $839 for a single.   Prices are Senior Citizen discounted rates (65 & over).  Add $80 pp if under 65 years of age.

$150 deposit is due with registration.  Trip insurance is included. Final payment is due by Aug. 17.

 

Tour of FDR Mansion and lunch at the Culinary Institute – November 8.  Join us for a day trip to the Hyde Park area with a tour of the FDR Mansion and Library followed by a tour of the Culinary Institute of America and lunch at CIA’s De’Medici Restaurant.  Trip includes roundtrip transportation in a deluxe motor coach, admission to the FDR Mansion and Museum, Lunch, taxes and gratuity including driver’s gratuity.  $76 pp. due by October 1.

Christmas Theatre Banquet at the Spinning Wheel Inn – December 12

Join us for the 2006 Christmas Theater Banquet at the Spinning Wheel in Redding Ridge, CT. A bit like Dinner Theatre, but instead of dining first, and then watching the show, you get alternate helpings of Appetizer and Comedy, Soup and Song, Entrée and pageant, Dessert and Drama, in a touching Christmas story.    A talented cast of professional actors and actresses, all superbly costumed, will entertain you.  $69 per person due by November 17. Just in case you are interested: The Golden Eagles Senior Adults in Woodbridge are going to the Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pa for an overnight trip to see the MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS on Nov. 16-17.
